I turned off the modbot about a decade ago since there seemed little
need for or interest in it, and I haven't lived in New England since
1995.

The motivation for ne.general.selected was large amounts of junk in
ne.general from one rather wacky guy. He went off to obsess about
other things, notably the Boston Public Library, and I believe he died
a few years ago.

He, or someone attempting an homage to him, posted in ne.food a week
or so ago.

It caught my attention, but details did not stick in my mind...

I don't know what his story is...but I believe he is still alive.

In case anyone is curious, he's just as weird IRL as online. When I was
an MIT student in the early 80's, he frequently came to the Student
Information Processing Board office looking for computer assistance.

I ran into Don the other day in WholeFoods. We had a perfectly normal
conversation about miscellaneous things including a seriously ill common friend.

Tell your library of last resort Boston Public library to publish
their chick pea bread in plan text form so Zadzak can read it on his
TRS-80.

Sadly (or not), he is not as kooky as Steve was, and he is gone for
good.

Steve Boursy, who was indeed the motivation for me setting up ne.general.selected.

Don Saklad was a later and much milder visitor.
